The romance of the rails lured many alumni and friends on the newly-launched Golden Eagle Trans-Siberia Express on an adventure from Moscow to Mongolia, June 29 - July 13. Long, bright days allowed for exploration of Siberian cities and towns, as well as a visit to UlaanBataar's Nadaam Festival. With commentary en route from professors Serguei Oushakine, Kim Scheppele, and Richard Lim *91, program participants got nearly all their questions asked -- from before Gengis Khan through Tsarist imperialism to current affairs in Russia -- except perhaps "When are we going to do it again?" | ||
