Walking to our hotel from the bus stop.
First meal in Paris at l'Entrecote. A recommendation from our friend Carolyn and she was 100% right ... BEST MEAL EVER. Steak and fries with sauce. Simple and delicious.
We didn't order dessert because we didn't understand the dessert menu.
This is what $100 worth of drinks looks like at the Plaza Athenee. (That is where Carrie and Big hung out in Sex And The City.) Seriously. These two drinks cost $100. Walk through, don't stop. Not worth it.
Remember the $100 drinks from the Plaza Athenee? Well, I stole their pen. So this, technically, is a $100 pen.
The first of many pictures that were bombed by oblivious people just going about their day ...
Fancy antique filter added to the image to make it appear 'artsy.'
"Oh! My! God! There is a train down here! An underground train! Who woulda thunk it! What WILL they think of next?"
This is just like they have at Centennial Olympic Park, except it's bigger and it's actually cold here.
Notre Dame, from the front.
Another shot ruined by an oblivious passer-by. Merci!
We rode on this. It wasn't romantic because we were in a 'capsule' with a family of four, and the Mom had a panic attack and started banging on the door to be let out. Seriously.
The Champs Elysees from the top of the Ferris Wheel.
Odd warning sign inside the Ferris Wheel. No kicking back being cool, no punching, no hokey pokey. No idea.
Nighttime Arc from just outside the front door of our hotel.
A really big painting. (Not the official name.)
Main hall of the Orsay Museum.
A little woman photographing a little paining.
The Orsay used to be a train station. This is the interior view of the exterior clock.
Whistler's Mother by James Whistler.
Vincent Van Gogh self portrait.
Main gallery, from the top looking down. The entrance is below the clock, and we're standing in the back looking toward the front.
Napoleon's crypt. He's in there. Little man, big burial.
Another view ... Napoleon's in there.
For some reason, this trip has been marked by strangers walking right in front of us as we take pictures, oblivious to the photography taking place.
A funny bathroom sign in a Paris restaurant.
the Four Seasons / George the Fifth
The famous pyramid entryway at the Louvre.
Planning the attack for the day at one of the Louvre cafes.
In the entry to the Louvre.
Jessica and Venus de Milo.
Winged (but headless) Victory.
Off in search of what everyone comes to the Louvre for.
Getting close. Follow the waves of people.
Crowds literally fighting to get a glance.
And, at the end of a big room, there she is on her own wall. I feel bad for the other paintings in this space.
Jessica got a picture with the Mona Lisa when they took to down to let some tourists hold it for pictures. We didn't pay to hold it, but got this shot while it was in transition.
On the first level of the Eiffel Tower, a bar made of ice and show.
You know how the best hot dogs are served outside of bars at night, and they always taste sooooooo good. Same is true in France. Two dogs, one baguette. Lordy ...
TONS of police. EVERYWHERE. For safety, but made Jessica nervous.
All the stores along Champs Elysees board up their windows. Apparently, the French Champagne makes people CRAZY.
The boarded up Hugo Boss store.
Probably some French morning show intern ...
French TV live from Champs Elysees
The Arc de Triomphe at the end of Champs Elysees. 11:30ish.
Champs Elysees, about 20 before 12.
Air France kicks Delta's ass when it comes to coach-class dining. Evening the red wine was free. Chicken, rice, bread, cheese, zucchini, salmon, yogurt, apple tart. Yum. Jess had pasta with simple sauce and mushrooms.
